About the Foundation Awards
One of the primary missions of the Foundation is to provide performance opportunities and financial support for young pianists. Students of AAAPTG members may compete annually (usually in March) for monetary awards at elementary, intermediate and high school levels.
Two memorized pieces are required for the elementary, intermediate and high school (grades 9–11) levels. Three memorized pieces are required for high school seniors. They are eligible to receive either the Frances Danforth Award OR High School Award, at the judges’ discretion.
Winners play at a recital (usually held at Kerrytown Concert House) the day after the auditions; friends and family are invited to this performance.
Applications are available in January.
Auditions and the recital occur in the spring.
